Updated Wash Day Routine | BrianneLive

I previously wrote a post all about the benefits of pre-pooing and since then I’ve fallen in love! I’ve been using a new oil to pre-poo that has all the benefits of castor oil, peppermint oil, and coconut oil wrapped into one. The foundation of the formula is Jamaican Black Castor Oil and all the ingredients are natural and certified organic. The formula was made to be an all in one to help with hair growth, thickness, moisture, conditioning, and scalp stimulation, which is my favorite part! If you all are familiar with my content you know that I love the tingling sensation and this oil provides just that!

Atarah Oil

Benefits:

  1. The foundation of the oil is Jamaican Black Castor Oil without being super heavy on the hair
  2. Promotes hair growth and thickness
  3. Promotes scalp stimulation
  4. Promoted moisture and thickness
  5. The aesthetics of the packaging looks great on your countertop!

Going along with benefit #5 I am a firm believer of out of mind out of sight. With the oil sitting on my counter top it reminds me to oil my scalp and hair every day! The oil also looks amazing with my decor, see it for yourself in my new ‘Wash Day’ video.

Enoy! Until next time loves.

The Benefits of a Oil Pre-poo

Extra tender loving and care are the needs of all African American hair types. The kinky texture is prone to dryness and sucks up moisture which can lead to brittle hair and breakage. A pre-poo can aide in moisture retention while adding to the oils that need to be in the hair.

Adding Moisture

Natural elements around us like: wind, rain, sun, and particles in the air, can have an effect on the state of the hair. Before wash day (especially when clarifying) adding oil will prevent drying out the hair anymore than it already will be. Naturally the hair gets dirty and needs to be clean but African American’s do not produce as much natural oils as other ethnicities being the reason why moisturizing and sealing is so important! Adding back in all the good stuff.

Sectioning

Working in sections has been a life savor for my hair journey and helps me manipulate through my hair more effectively with less breakage. A Pre-poo subcontiously gives you the opportunity to go through the sections of your hair and check things out! Get the shredded hairs out the way and make sure your whole head of hair is getting the same treatment.

Hair Growth

During my pre-poo process I love using peppermint oil! Working in sections I’m able to access my scalp and apply the oil directly onto it. I feel the tingling sensation and give myself a great scalp massage which stimulates hair growth.

If your hair is super dry I would recommend treating your pre-poo process identical to moisturizing and sealing. I would moisturize with a water based conditioner and follow up with the oil. This allows the oil to really penetrate the cuticle and result in smooth, soft, and shiny hair.

Enoy! Until next time loves.

Kera Care Thermal Wonder Wash Day

Im definitely taking it back with this one! I used to use Kera Care products when I was in high school a long time ago, and now I want to start using it again full time! One thing that I always associate Kera Care products with is the fresh tingling sensation you get with these products. I’ve never felt that before with another other hair products and I really enjoy the feeling. Ill break down my wash day with some pros and cons:

PROs

  • Sulfate Free
  • Great Lather
  • The prepoo gives a lot of slip and moisture to the hair
  • Tingle sensation makes your scalp feel amazing!
  • I can feel the “thermal protectant” working while using the prepoo

CONs

  • Shampoo is drying after second wash
  • Products burns your eyes

Although this product is for naturally curly hair I wanted to try it out since Im three months post relaxer and I knew flat ironing would be a challenge. The thought of my whole wash day routine helping with the flatiron process is amazing! For chemically treated hair though, I would shampoo then use the prepoo. OR you can use the Kera Care moisturizing conditioner after you shampoo.

Do I feel like treatment helped with the straightening process?

Being that I used silk elements heat protect and not the Kera Care line I would say yes and no. Yes because I felt silk agents in the prepoo and I knew that contribution came in handy while flat ironing. I would say no because I didn’t use the whole line for my routine and Im not sure if that affected the results in any way!

Would I use this line again?

Yes of course! Since being in cosmetology school I’ve grown an appreciation for salon products. I know that using the same line also affects the results because the formula is made to work with the product line. AND not to mention the bottles are sealed so no one has been in the store taking your product!

If you have any questions feel free to ask away!

Until next time,

The Break Down | The 3 Parts of my Relaxed Hair

So many times I have witnessed ladies on youtube showing off their hair but they NEVER show in detail the true condition of it. This became important to me and my channel because I do not want to portray my journey as perfect because it is far from it! Instead I want to take my friends along with me and show my obstacles and how I over come them!.

In 2016 my hair was at its peak! It was the best it had ever been! It was So beautiful and every inch of my hair seemed to be growing in unison with the other. This is #HAIRGOALS to me. A full healthy head of hair is what I strive to have everyday.

Just to show a screen shot from my photo shoot it seemed like every hair on my head fell at the same position. I was so happy with the look of my hair and I tried very hard to keep it this way. But then life happens and I had a couple set backs and the beginning of 2017 I decided to chop off more than I need to cut and get layers for a new look, you know a new feel.

This video shows just that, 6 months post my mini chop trying to get the pieces of my hair back together again! It’s definitely growing and the cut made me realize that un-layered hair is more me!

Like anything in life you have to be real with yourself to be able to identify a problem and fix it! These sections will make you see your hair for what it is and make you face the truth to help your hair in the long run! Getting on camera and showing the world your flaws is as real as it gets! If you get the courage to post it on social media and tag me!

Wash Day Hair Wall | The Benefits

My “Hair Wall” is the hair that comes out during my wash day routine. This can be shedded hair or breakage but you will never know until you take a closer look at it! This process just took me a further step into my hair journey because by doing this it helps me take a closer look at my hair and what its doing. The benefits of having a hair wall are:

pic3.jpg

  • Is there any breakage during wash day??

If you have a lot of short hairs coming out during wash day this is not a good sign. This means that your strands aren’t strong enough to endure a wash day and you need to get your strands stronger and healthier. This can mean a protein treatment or this may mean the products your using are too harsh. You can use your shedded long strands to run test on to see what your hair needs.

  • Whats my hair porosity??

The porosity of your hair is important and vital to know especially during wash days. Take your shedded hairs and do a porosity test on them. This will also aide you in knowing what products would work best and how much of it is needed.

  • Whats the health of my strands??

When looking at your hair wall you will be able to see the density/thickness of your strands. If your short strands are thin and your shedded strands are thicker that may mean that your short strands were split ends. If the shedded strand starts out thick and then gets thin that mean you have some dead ends that need to be trimmed.

Remember hair shedding is normal, the average person looses between 50-100 strands of hair a day. I hope you all enjoyed learning the benefits of my hair wall and hopefully you all show me what your hair wall is looking like! post it on social media and tag me!

The Journey | Ep. 3

Who would of knew that the Journey would get so much BUZZ! I can see that so many people are loving these episodes (and hating lol) and I will keep them coming! It’s funny because I started the journey for my subscriber to see more relaxed women but I find myself learning so much from interacting with these beauties.

It’s so rewarding learning from other women about hair care in general because the truth is, one person doesn’t know it all! Two minds are better than one!

The purpose of the Journey is to show how confidence exudes out of women of color. How working towards a healthy hair goal can be a journey we all take together. In this new day and age we can put away the straight hair stereotypes and the “true meaning” of relaxers because there is a new definition. WE DEFINE the style of our hair and own it with truth.

So to confidence, truth, and Black Girl MAGIC

The Best Relaxed Hair Perm Rod Set

screen-shot-2016-09-09-at-6-41-15-pmscreen-shot-2016-09-09-at-6-42-32-pm

With the many perm rod set tutorials on YouTube I never came across one that was demonstrated on relaxed hair with a BIG voluminous end result. I wondered why I couldn’t find what I was looking for and that made me want to come up with something myself, so I did.

All relaxed hair is different but what I do know is that shrinkage for natural ladies is on their side when it comes to styles holding and even looking great after a few days. With relaxed hair we have to think of what makes our hair flourish in a style and what will make it hold without being too hard and still have movement.

So with that being said I came up with the BEST way to achieve this style for relaxed, texlaxed, and natural haired ladies. The products that were used are:

-Heat Protectant: Silk Elements Mega Silk Heat protectant spray
-Bronner Brothers oil moisturizer
-Oil sheen
-Bronner Brothers Wrapping lotion foam (Alcohol free)
-Bronner Brothers Anti-Frizz Serum

The tutorial is broken down into two parts, Click the links below and watch away! I hope this helps and cheers to Happy Hair Stylin!
